Team

Ocular gene therapy leadership with deep retinal disease experience.

Visiogene is led by scientists and advisors with direct experience in ocular genetics, AAV vector development, retinal degeneration models, and molecular therapies for vision loss.

Founder and CEO

Rajendra Kumar-Singh, PhD

Dr. Kumar-Singh is Professor of Developmental, Molecular and Chemical Biology at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.

Previously, he was the Scientific Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Hemera Biosciences and inventor of soluble sCD59 (HMR59) for the treatment of dry age-related macular degeneration, also known as geographic atrophy. HMR59 was acquired by Janssen Pharmaceuticals and is now known as JNJ-81201887.

He completed his PhD at the University of Dublin, Trinity College, in ocular genetics, followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, faculty roles at UCLA School of Medicine and the University of Utah, and progression to tenured Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Senior Scientist

Manish Mishra, PhD

Dr. Mishra is a Senior Scientist at Visiogene with extensive experience in animal models of retinal degeneration and development and use of recombinant AAV vectors for retinal gene therapy.

He graduated from the CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research in India and was a Research Associate at Wayne State University School of Medicine before moving to Tufts University as a Research Associate.

He later worked in industry as a key member of the CNS and ocular gene therapy program at PTC Therapeutics and has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications.

Clinical and Research Advisor

Tiffany Kolniak, MD, PhD

Dr. Kolniak is Clinical and Research Advisor to Visiogene. She obtained her PhD in Neuroscience from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo.

She has published in molecular therapies for retinal degeneration, with a focus on knockdown strategies for autosomal dominant retinal diseases.

Dr. Kolniak obtained her medical degree from the University at Buffalo, completed residency at Mount Auburn Hospital, joined Tufts Medical Center as a primary care physician, and is currently a primary care physician at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

Company foundation

Built around translation from retinal delivery science to company formation.

Visiogene combines platform innovation, therapeutic payload development, and disease model expertise across retinal degeneration and ocular fibrosis.

01

Ocular genetics and AAV experience

Leadership experience spans ocular genetics, AAV vector engineering, and translational retinal disease research.

02

Company-building precedent

Prior Hemera Biosciences experience provides relevant context for complement-targeted ocular gene therapy development and strategic transaction execution.

03

Clinical and research perspective

Clinical advisory input supports thoughtful indication selection and translation of molecular therapy concepts toward patient-relevant retinal disease settings.
